Guidelines For UPSC

This is fundamental that you should know before starting your preparation for UPSC. There are 2 types of services that you can join by cracking UPSC CSE (Civil Service Examination) according to your rank and priority as you submit to UPSC in your DAF (detailed application form), that you fill after qualifying prelims :

UPSC involves 3 stages – preliminary, mains and personality test. Once you clear these 3 stages you will be eligible for the services mentioned below. Based on the rank and vacancies you will be given service. By the way, these are considered as services instead of jobs.

(I) Indian Administrative Service.

(ii)Indian Foreign Service.

(iii)Indian Police Service.

(iv)Indian P& T Accounts & Finance Service, Group ‘A’

(v)Indian Audit and Accounts Service, Group ‘A’.

(vi)Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise), Group ‘A’.

(vii)Indian Defence Accounts Service, Group ‘A’.

(viii)Indian Revenue Service (I.T.), Group ‘A’.

and many more come under Group A.

(1) Armed Forces Headquarters Civil Service, Group ‘B’(Section Officer’s Grade).

(2)Delhi, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Daman & Diu and Dadra &Nagar Haveli Civil Service, Group ‘B’.

(3)Delhi, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Daman & Diu and Dadra &Nagar Haveli Police Service, Group ‘B’.

(4) Pondicherry Civil Service, Group ‘B’.

(5) Pondicherry Police Service, Group ‘B’

and many more come under Group B

Guidelines for Preparation: Analysis shows that now a day highest weights are given to current affairs and so you must concentrate more on it. For current affairs, you should do the following thing. Read daily newspaper either TOI or The Hindu don’t read other paper. Read monthly magazine kurushetra, yojna and pratiyogita darpan. Now next highest weight is of three subject

1. History: In history, too many questions ask from modern history so prepare that first.

2. Geography: Geography is scoring subject but many trick question asks on them to study it in understanding way i.e try to understand every topic.

3.Polity: most easy and highest scoring subject.question on this subject is simple and easily understand…For this subject preparation, you must first study from NCERT BOOK. ..yes you must study from class 7th to 12th NCERT book…After studying NCERT book you can study from the internet and books
