In this Tom Cruise who is 56 years-old is an undercover agent Ethan Hunt. His mission is to save the world from a madman threatening global nuclear destruction. Then he takes his squad to Paris, London then New Zealand and finally Kashmir.
There were some additional faces namely Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames as Hunt’s teammates Benji and Luther – McQuarrie brings back Rogue Nation alumni Alec Baldwin in the role of Hunt’s IMF chief Alan Hunley, Rebecca Ferguson as slinky spy Ilsa Faust and many more. Also, there were some last minute twists.
The stunts were skillfully developed and came out great. Especially the rooftop chase scene in London is something amazing. Something like this makes these films especially thrilling. The big climactic set piece, which involves a helicopter battle over snowy mountains is also pretty spectacular and one of the best scenes.
But it kind of felt like it was overstretched at the last. And the movie is also nearly two-and-a-half hours.
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie Fallout is the sixth film in the franchise, and the second (after 2015’s Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) but the continuity is still there.
