Two Idols Missing from Thanjavur Big Temple

On friday, the antique statues of kind Raja Raja Chola and his wife Logamadevi had got missing from the Thanjavur Big Temple. According to the international market value the idol is worth Rs.100 crore i.e Rs.60 crore for one icon and Rs.40 crore for another one.

Reports say that the two statues are donated by former king Poigai Naadu Kizhavan Aadhithan Suriyanagiya Thennavan Moovenda Velaan to Raja Raja Chola during the construction of the temple.Sources say that the idols are made from valuable metals like gold etc.

The police said that the idols might have been stolen 50 years ago. V V Swaminathan, had filed the case in Madras high court about the two missing idols. The police confirmed that the statues are kept in a museum in Gujarat.
