Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal has said that Banaswadi railway station in Bengaluru will be run only by women on regarding the International Women’s Day on March 8th.
This railway station is said to be the fifth women run railway station in the country. The entire railway station will be under the control of women said Piyush Goyal. All the workers including station master, clerks etc will be women.
Matunga in Mumbai, Gandhinagar in Jaipur, Chandragiri in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district and Ajni in Nagpur, Maharashtra are the other railway stations which is run by all-women. The Indian Railways persently has upto 1 lakh women which is 7.6 percent.
Goyal said that they would be taking more women staffs in the railways parlicularly in Railway Protecton Force.
The Sanghmitra Express was run with an all women crew from Bengaluru up to Chennai on occasion of Women’s Day.
